Vermont's immunization law states that parents are required to fully vaccinate children prior to school or child care entry. Immunizations help to protect the wellbeing of the individual child, his/her classmates and the community.
The Health Department has created a fact sheet to answer many of the commonly asked questions about a proposed change to Vermont's vaccine philosophical exemption.
Vaccinate for Life
Few things are as safe and effective as vaccines to keep your child healthy, right from the start. The entire Vermont community benefits when each and every child is protected from vaccine-preventable diseasesby the recommended immunizations.
Vaccination rates have declined in the U.S. over the past three years, and in that time we have seen an increase in the number of vaccine-preventable diseases. The publication of a 1998 study that incorrectly linked vaccines with autism likely contributed to this drop. The study was later proven to be false (showing no connection between vaccines and autism), and the author was stripped of his medical license.
We want to provide you with the most accurate information about the vaccines that your child is going to receive.
